I am a contemporary portrait & figurative artist.
My current pieces are of my young daughter, Rowan. The challenge of capturing her changing, mercurial looks, the flashes of the adult she will become, fascinates me.
To do this, I am now exploring ways of capturing less traditional, inward looking moments which hint more at the subject's secret, inner persona.
By their nature children are never still for long, so I try to take photographs in a freer manner to capture the unguarded moment . I try and use non flash lit photography, which often adds a graininess that can give a pixilated, painterly look to the images.
